Michael Drouin Indicted for Interference with Election Communications During April 13, 2021 Special Election

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces that Michael Drouin (age 30) of Merrimack, New Hampshire, has been indicted on one felony count of interference with election communications related to the April 13, 2021, Hillsborough District 21 special election.

The indictment is for a violation of RSA 659:40-a, interference with communication, a Class B Felony. The charge alleges that Mr. Drouin, on election day, knowingly blocked communications equipment or services with the intent of interfering with campaign activity.

Class B felony charges carry a penalty range of 3½ to seven years in prison and a fine of up $2,000. Additionally, pursuant to the New Hampshire Constitution, anyone convicted of a willful violation of the State's election laws shall lose the right to vote in this State.

The charges and allegations are merely accusations. Mr. Drouin is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case is being prosecuted Deputy General Counsel Myles Matteson and Attorney Matt Conley of the Election Law Unit. The investigation into this matter was conducted by Chief Investigator Richard Tracy.
