Autopsy Results for Victim of Fatal Shooting Incident in Keene, New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Nathan Noyes, and Keene Police Chief Steven Russo announce further information regarding an investigation into a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Keene, New Hampshire.

Keene police responded to 6 Green Street in Keene on Friday, May 13, 2022, at about 8:40 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Kristopher W. Chagnon (age 27), outside and injured with a gunshot wound. Mr. Chagnon was taken to a hospital where he later died.

An autopsy was performed today by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Mitchell Weinberg. Dr. Weinberg determined that Mr. Chagnon's cause of death was a single gunshot wound, and his manner of death is homicide.

The parties involved in the incident have been identified, and based on the information known to investigators at this time, there is no known danger to the public.

The investigation is active and ongoing and includes whether the person who shot Mr. Chagnon acted in self-defense.
