Autopsy Results in the Homicide of Christopher Veliz

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Nathan Noyes, and Berlin Police Chief Daniel Buteau announce that an autopsy has been completed on the body of Christopher Veliz (age 44) who died on Sullivan Street in Berlin on February 3, 2023.

The autopsy was conducted by Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval. Dr. Duval determined that the cause of Mr. Veliz's death was multiple gunshot wounds, and that the manner of his death was homicide.

Nomar Ramos-Rivera (age 44) of Berlin, New Hampshire, has been arrested and charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and two counts of Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon. Mr. Ramos-Rivera is currently being held without bail. Mr. Ramos-Rivera is also accused of recklessly firing a firearm into an occupied vehicle. An arraignment will be held in the Coos County Superior Court. A hearing date has not yet been assigned.

The charges and allegations against Mr. Ramos-Rivera are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
