Update on Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation in Plymouth, New Hampshire
Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces further information regarding the officer-involved shooting that occurred early this morning at 27 Route 25 in Plymouth, New Hampshire.
At approximately 2:40pm on November 6, 2024, Plymouth Police officers were dispatched to a residence for a call of a disturbance at 27 Route 25 in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Responding police officers heard sounds consistent with gunshots coming from the interior of the residence at which point the subject barricaded himself inside.
Both the New Hampshire State Police Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT Unit responded to the residence to provide assistance. During several hours, law enforcement personnel were able to communicate with the individual from the disturbance, an adult male armed with a rifle. At approximately 12:49am, the SWAT Unit radioed that they had fired upon the armed male. Following the shooting, the individual was located near a first-floor doorway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending an autopsy scheduled by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for today.
No law enforcement officers have been physically injured and there is no threat to the public at this time.
Six members of the New Hampshire State Police SWAT Unit discharged firearms as part of this incident. Pursuant to protocol, the names of the six troopers involved are being withheld pending the conclusion of formal interviews.
The exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain under active investigation. Further information will be released as it becomes available regarding the adult male’s identity and cause and manner of death following the conclusion of the autopsy.
