Lisa Lucas, RN

The New Hampshire Board of Nursing ("Board") has suspended, on an emergency basis, Lisa Lucas's privilege to practice as a registered nurse in New Hampshire. Ms. Lucas does not have a New Hampshire registered nurse's license but is currently licensed in Virginia, which is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact.

The Board's action is in response to a complaint received from Portsmouth Regional Hospital alleging that Ms. Lucas diverted controlled drugs. The complaint alleges that in April, 2015 there were twelve (12) vials of Fentanyl unaccounted for after a review of Ms. Lucas's documentation of Fentanyl administration. The allegations are that Ms. Lucas removed the Fentanyl but had no documented waste, return, or administration. A review of Ms. Lucas's documentation in May gave rise to a further allegation that another twelve (12) vials of Fentanyl were unaccounted for. Additional medications that were unaccounted for in Ms. Lucas's documentation included Meperidine, Hydromorphone, and Lorazepam.

On June 8, 2015, the Board issued an Order of Emergency Suspension of Privilege to Practice and Notice of Hearing. A hearing is currently scheduled for June 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM for the purpose of determining whether Ms. Lucas engaged in professional misconduct and if so, whether it warrants the continuation of the suspension of Ms. Lucas's privilege to practice as a registered nurse in New Hampshire or the imposition of permanent disciplinary sanctions.

A copy of the Order of Emergency Suspension of Privilege to Practice and Notice of Hearing is attached. The New Hampshire Board of Nursing is located at 121 South Fruit St., Concord, NH 03301 - (603) 271-2323.
