Indictment of Zanda Ball for Dispensing a Controlled Drug with Death Resulting

Concord, NH – Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald announces the indictment of Zanda Ball, age 36, of Sunapee, NH, for Dispensing a Controlled Drug with Death Resulting and an alternative count of Dispensing a Controlled Drug.

On September 25, 2020, the Merrimack County Grand Jury indicted Ms. Ball on one count of Dispensing a Controlled Drug with Death Resulting and an alternative count of Dispensing a Controlled Drug. The Death Resulting indictment alleges that on September 24, 2018, Ms. Ball dispensed fentanyl to Gina Carr, age 29, of Sutton, NH, and that Ms. Carr died as a result of her use of that fentanyl. The alternative indictment alleges that Ms. Ball dispensed fentanyl to Ms. Carr on September 24, 2018. Dispensing a Controlled Drug with Death Resulting is punishable by up to life in prison, with the possibility of parole.

Ms. Ball is scheduled for an arraignment on October 23, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. in Merrimack County Superior Court. An indictment is merely an accusation and Ms. Ball is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Sutton Police Department and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. Senior Assistant Attorney General Danielle Sakowski and Attorney Shane Goudas are prosecuting this case.
