Indictment of Carrie Drake for the Murder of Vernon Hayford

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella and Manchester Police Chief Allen D. Aldenberg announce that Carrie Drake (age 54) has been indicted by the Hillsborough County Grand Jury in connection with the death of Vernon Hayford in Manchester, NH on March 3, 2024.

Ms. Drake was indicted on one count of second-degree murder for knowingly causing Mr. Hayford’s death by stabbing him with a knife, and an alternative count of second-degree murder for recklessly causing the death of Mr. Hayford under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life by stabbing him with a knife. Ms. Drake was also indicted on one count of being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon for knowingly possessing a knife, after previously having been convicted of a felony.

Ms. Drake continues to be held without bail. It is expected that an arraignment will take place at 10:00am on June 18, 2024, in the Hillsborough County Superior Court – Northern District.

The charges against Ms. Drake are only allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
