Homicide investigation in Stoddard, New Hampshire

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster and State Colonel Christopher J. Wagner announce that an investigation is ongoing into a homicide in Stoddard, New Hampshire.

At about 7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, New Hampshire State Police Troopers responded to a 911 call at a private residence in Stoddard. When the Troopers arrived, they discovered an adult male with a gunshot wound who was deceased in the home. There were also two other people in the home; both of them were uninjured.

Although the investigation is still in the early stages, authorities believe that they have identified all of the involved parties, including the person who shot the deceased. The deceased and the other involved parties were not strangers and knew each other. The incident appears to be an isolated event and does not present any danger to the public.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be performing an autopsy on the deceased to determine his exact cause and manner of death. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

This investigation is ongoing.
