Disclosure of the Officer's Name from the October 19, 2020 Officer-Involved Shooting in Thornton, New Hampshire
Concord, NH – Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald releases the name of the police officer involved in the incident that took place on October 19, 2020, in Thornton, New Hampshire, in which Ethan Freeman (age 37) was shot and killed.
The officer who discharged his firearm was Thornton Police Officer Matthew Yao. Officer Yao has been an officer with the Thornton Police Department for approximately three years.
The exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain actively under investigation. No further updates are expected until the investigation is completed.
