Disclosure of the Names of the Police Officers Involved in the January 21, 2024 Shooting Incident in Nashua, New Hampshire

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces the identity of the four Nashua police officers who discharged firearms during a shooting incident on January 21, 2024 in Nashua, New Hampshire that resulted in the death of Heath Thompson (age 40).

Those officers are Wade Hansen, who has approximately 3 years of law enforcement experience; Cameron Hult, who has approximately three years of law enforcement experience; Conner Reynolds, who has approximately two years of law enforcement experience, and Dakota Van Tassel, who has approximately seven years of law enforcement experience.  During the police encounter with Mr. Thompson, Officers Hansen and Reynolds fired their patrol rifles, Officer Hult fired his service pistol, and Officer Van Tassel fired a less-than-lethal projectile launcher.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.  It is anticipated that the report regarding the incident and whether the officers’ use of force was justified will be released once the investigation is completed.  No further updates are expected until the report is released.
