Additional Information Available Regarding the Officer-Involved Shooting Incident in Weare, New Hampshire

On August 14, 2013, an officer-involved use of force incident occurred in Weare, New Hampshire. As a result of that incident, Alex Cora DeJesus was shot and killed by a Weare police officer. Since then, the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit have been conducting a criminal investigation in order to determine whether the shooting was justified.

Although each case is different, this case has numerous factors that have resulted in a more lengthy and complex investigation. As a result, additional investigative avenues are being pursued. The investigation is still active and ongoing and is expected to take at least two more months.

In spite of the ongoing nature of the investigation, a point has been reached where additional information can be released, consisting of the names of the five police officers who were involved in the incident. Those Weare police officers were: Sergeant Joseph Kelley, Sergeant Kenneth Cox, Detective Frank Hebert, Officer Nicolas Nadeau and Officer Brandon Montplaisir.

No further information is expected to be released until the investigation is completed and the final report is issued.
