Victims of Crime Act RFP

Program Description

The Victim's of Crime Act (VOCA) program is designed to support the provision of services to victims of crime through the Nation. Services, under this grant program are defined as those efforts that (1) respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims; (2) assist primary and secondary victims of crime to stabilize their lives after a victimization; (3) assist victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system; and (4) provide victims of crime with a measure of safety and security such as boarding up broken windows and replacing and repairing locks.

Allowable funding categories

  • Continuation of Services by Existing Programs
    • Eligible applicants include:
      • Non-profit crisis center service provider organizations;
      • Organizations employing victim advocates;
      • Mental Health providers serving victims of crime;
      • Other public or non-profit organizations providing direct services to victims of crime.
    • Funds may be requested to support direct services at eligible organizations, especially those that have lost, or risk losing, jobs or essential services due to recent reductions in funding.
    • Goal will be to stabilize those programs so as to preserve jobs and continue essential services.
