New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly A. Ayotte and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Frederick H. Booth announce that law enforcement is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discharge of a handgun by a Concord police officer.

On Thursday morning, four Concord police officers were inside the Granite State Credit Union Building on Sheep Davis Road in Concord, New Hampshire. At approximately 4:30 a.m., one of the officers’ handguns discharged, striking a fellow police officer in the chest with the bullet. The officer who was struck was wearing a protective vest and suffered very minor injures. He was subsequently treated and released from the Concord Hospital. No other officers were physically injured during the incident.

Per protocol, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit, with the full cooperation of the Concord Police Department, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the Concord officer’s discharge of his firearm. The identity of the officers involved in the incident are not being released at this time, pending further investigation.
