Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces that on March 4, 2024, James Towne, age 46, of Concord, New Hampshire, pleaded guilty to one special felony count of Conspiracy to Sell a Controlled Drug and one special felony count of Sale of a Controlled Drug, and was sentenced by the Merrimack County Superior Court to a total of 10 to 20 years on the Conspiracy to Sell a Controlled Drug charge. The defendant was sentenced to a consecutive 8 to 16 years on the Sale of a Controlled Drug charge, with 8 years of the minimum sentence suspended for a period of 36 years, provided the defendant meets certain conditions.

The evidence in this case established that between August of 2020 and December 21, 2021, the defendant conspired to traffic in multi-pound quantities of methamphetamine, which he sourced from Massachusetts and distributed in the Merrimack County area.

The investigation and resolution of this case was the result of collaborative efforts of the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the New Hampshire State Police, and the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Drug Task Force.
