Attorney General Michael A. Delaney announces that the New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners ("Board") has suspended the dental license of John B. Bassett, DMD, effective August 23, 2012. Dr. Bassett practiced in Salem, New Hampshire.
The Board's action is in response to Dr. Bassett's August 13, 2012 arrest for simple assault against a juvenile patient. Dr. Bassett is charged with striking the child on the back, leaving a mark.
On August 23, 2012, the Board issued an Order of Emergency Suspension and Notice of Hearing. The order suspended Dr. Bassett's license immediately. A Board hearing is currently scheduled for September 10, 2012, for the purpose of determining whether Dr. Bassett's license will remain suspended during the course of the on-going investigation.
Copies of the Order of Emergency Suspension and Notice of Hearing are available upon request by contacting the New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners, 2 Industrial Park Drive, Concord, New Hampshire; (603) 271-4561.
