Attorney General Michael Delaney is pleased to announce the winner of the Governor's Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence 2012 Honorable William D. Paine II Award. This award, given in memory of former Judge and Carroll County Attorney William D. Paine II honors individuals who have made an "outstanding commitment to collaborative multidisciplinary efforts to reduce domestic and sexual violence in New Hampshire."
This year's winner is Debra Hastings, PhD, RN-BC, CNOR, who for over 25 years has tirelessly both personally and professionally to end domestic violence and sexual assault through collaboration and multidisciplinary efforts. Dr. Hastings currently serves as the Director of Nursing Education for the Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic, where she has worked extensively to improve screening and medical supports for victims of domestic and sexual violence. She is trained as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) and serves on the New Hampshire Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Advisory as well as the New Hampshire Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee. She also served on the national advisory committee for the Futures Without Violence Health Care Initiative in which New Hampshire was one of 10 pilot sites to implement universal medical screening for domestic violence and sexual assault.
Attorney General Delaney said, "We congratulate Dr. Debra Hastings on her award and thank her for her dedication and commitment on behalf of New Hampshire's victims of domestic and sexual violence."
