Attorney General Michael Delaney is pleased to announce the winner of the Attorney General's Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect's 2011 Dr. Roger M. Fossum Award. This award, given in memory of the State's first Chief Medical Examiner who died in 1994, honors individuals who have made an outstanding commitment to collaborative multidisciplinary efforts to improve services to children affected by abuse and neglect in New Hampshire.
This year's winner is Assistant Merrimack County Attorney David Rotman. Attorney Rotman has prosecuted child physical and sexual violence cases since 1996. Attorney Rotman has devoted countless hours to ensuring that perpetrators of crimes against children are held accountable. His devotion to his cases is remarkable, and his ability to communicate with child victims is impressive. He never loses sight that these cases are about real children, and he always treats each child with the respect and compassion that they deserve. This trusting relationship is evident during the trial when he is able to simply have an engaging conversation with these children in front of a jury and the perpetrator. He is an outstanding advisor and mentor to other prosecutors that prosecute such crimes and is a valuable resource to anyone who is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of such crimes. Attorney Rotman's hard work and devotion to seeking justice for victims of child abuse has paid off and he has been instrumental in obtaining guilty verdicts is some of the most despicable cases of sexual abuse of children in this State.
Attorney General Delaney said, "We congratulate Attorney David Rotman on his well deserved award and thank him for his dedication and commitment on behalf of New Hampshire's children."
