Attorney General Michael A. Delaney and Manchester Police Chief David Mara announce that at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, members of the Manchester Police Department responded to 911 calls from residents in the vicinity of Lake Avenue and Union Street in the city. The 911 callers reported gunshots fired in the area. When the police arrived, they found a man outside 227 Lake Avenue who was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Elliot Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified, but his identity is not being disclosed pending notification of his next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled for later this afternoon at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Concord.
Currently, the Manchester Police are investigating the matter as a homicide. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the Manchester Police Department at (603) 668-8711.
