New Hampshire Attorney General Michael A. Delaney announces that the autopsies have been completed on the two people involved in the murder-suicide which took place in Concord on Tuesday, June 14, 2011.
The State's Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Thomas A. Andrew, has determined that Sarah Balch's cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head. Her manner of death is homicide. Matthew Balch died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the neck. His manner of death is suicide.
The investigation reveals that during a domestic dispute, Matthew Balch shot and killed his wife Sarah Balch with a rifle and then turned the gun on himself. The investigation is still ongoing.
