Attorney General Michael A. Delaney, State Police Colonel Robert Quinn, Carroll County Sheriff Christopher Conley, and the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) announce that Jonathan Tanguay, of 1027 Hurricane Mountain Road, Bartlett, New Hampshire, has been indicted on six (6) class-A felony counts of possessing images of child sexual abuse.
Jonathan Tanguay, age 39, is a Bartlett Town Selectman. He was arrested on February 19, 2010, and later released on $50,000 bail.
The indictments allege violations of RSA 649-A, which was substantially amended by the State legislature in 2009 to address the proliferation and exploitation of children through their use as subjects in sexual performances. The legislation enhanced the penalties for crimes in violation of the statute. Each charge carries a potential sentence of seven and one half to fifteen years.
Mr. Tanguay is scheduled to be arraigned in Carroll County Superior Court on August 18, 2010.
