New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly A. Ayotte and Nashua Police Chief Donald Conley, announce that an investigation is ongoing into the death of Franklin Phillips [age 68] of 9 Natick Street, Nashua.
On Thursday, December 18, 2008, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Nashua police and fire personnel responded to 9 Natick Street for a house fire in progress. Upon entering the residence, fire personnel found the body of Franklin Phillips in his bedroom. Mr. Phillips was transported to Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Nashua Police have arrested Michael Phillips [20 years old] of 9 Natick Street and charged him with first degree murder and arson in connection with the fire of his home and the death of his grandfather, Franklin Phillips.
An autopsy is scheduled at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner for Friday morning.
Michael Phillips will be arraigned in the Nashua District Court on Friday, December 19, 2008, at 8:30 a.m.
No further news releases are expected until the autopsy is completed.
