Members of the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Justice Bureau:
- respond to the scenes of suspicious deaths and homicides to help law enforcement officers resolve legal questions that come up in their investigation;
- work with law enforcement officers to investigate unresolved homicides; and
- represent the State of New Hampshire in prosecutions where the sentence may be death or life imprisonment. (RSA 7:6)
Members of the unit also prosecute many cases against persons charged with manslaughter and some negligent homicides. The men and women who work in the Homicide Unit are dedicated to protecting New Hampshire citizens and promoting public justice by providing ethical and effective legal services and trial advocacy.
