Attorney General Philip McLaughlin today announced that he would be holding a Press Conference on March 1, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 302 at the Attorney General's Office regarding consumer scams that are targeting New Hampshire consumers in record numbers. The object of the press event is to inform consumers about current dangerous scams.

Attorney General McLaughlin will discuss the ever-increasing Nigerian Scam letters and e-mail requests for bank account numbers, consumers receiving notification that they have won the Canadian Lottery, as well as the illegality of pyramid schemes.

Attorney General McLaughlin will be highlighting what consumers should be doing to protect themselves and share some of the unfortunate circumstances that a number of New Hampshire consumers have found themselves in by being defrauded by these types of scams.
